Starbucks introduces the purple trend of the season: Ube Vanilla and a taste of spring refreshment

Spring at Starbucks is all about colour, exotic flavours and drinks made to be photographed. A new limited‑edition Ube Vanilla range is arriving in stores, inspired by one of the biggest global trends of recent months, alongside the return of popular cold favourites such as Cool Lime Starbucks Refresha® and Cold Brew.

Ube: Asia’s purple star

You may have heard of it. And you may have seen it — because it’s impossible to miss.
Ube (pronounced “oo‑beh”) is a purple yam, a type of sweet potato originating from Asia, that has taken the culinary world by storm. It is known for its vibrant purple colour and its delicate sweet, nutty flavour with subtle vanilla notes.

A favourite in Asian cafés, Ube stands out for both its striking appearance and naturally smooth sweetness. Starbucks now introduces Ube Vanilla beverages, crafted with Ube Vanilla Flavour Sauce to deliver a creamy, gently sweet, and elegantly dessert‑like taste.

• Ube Vanilla Flavour Coffee/Crème Frappuccino® – a creamy coffee‑free version or a coffee version with Frappuccino® Roast.

• Ube Vanilla Flavour Velvet Matcha Latte – 100% Japanese matcha, milk and Ube Vanilla in a silky foam.
